The Kano state chapter of the Parliamentary Staff Association (PASAN) on Monday closed the state House of Assembly as part of a nationwide strike called by the union’s national body.
News.ng learnt that the state chapter’s chairman, Bashir Yahaya, confirmed that they had joined the strike, as directed by their association’s national president.
Yahaya said that the strike was triggered by the government’s failure to implement the financial autonomy of the legislature, which the union had been demanding for two years. He added that the strike would continue until the demands of the union were met.
Yahaya also said that the state assembly will remain closed until a counter-directive is received from PASAN’s national body.
