Global Chat app, Telegram, has announced its hope to make a profit next year two years after launching a Premium subscription.
Telegram founder, Pavel Durov, disclosed this in a media statement on Monday.
The messaging app lets users share files, media, and chats was first released for iOS on August 14, 2013, and Android on October 14.
The company was established in 2013, and its creator, Pavel, departed Russia in 2014. It was said that he was travelling across nations with a core group of fifteen computer programmers.
Its operational centre in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has over 900 million users as of late, and it generates “hundreds of millions of dollars” via subscriptions and advertisements.
The CEO stated that Telegram intends to go public in the future, even though international investors have given the company money at a valuation of more than $30 billion.
“The main reason why we started to monetize is because we wanted to remain independent. Generally speaking, we see value in [an IPO] as a means to democratize access to Telegram’s value,” he said.
He said that Telegram intends to go public in the future, even though international investors have made the company financial offers at a valuation of more than $30 billion.
Durov revealed last week that users of the chat app who had personal accounts could now pay a monthly fee to change those accounts to business accounts.
This might be useful for small cafe owners and shop owners as it allows users to list details like location and opening hours.
Channel owners will now be able to earn money thanks to Durov’s newly launched ad platform.
The company announced that on the TONNE blockchain, it will use toncoin to distribute rewards.
A portion of every dollar the business makes from showing advertisements on their channels will be given to the channel owners.
