President Bola Tinubu has nominated Delu Yakubu as the first National Coordinator / Chief Executive Officer of the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA).
Ms. Yakubu’s nomination would be subject to Senate confirmation, according to a statement made by Ajuri Ngelale, a spokesperson for the president on Thursday.
On May 22, 2023, the National Social Investment Programmes Agency (NSIPA) (Establishment) Act, 2023 was signed into law. Maryam Uwais, a former presidential adviser on social investment to ex-president Muhammadu Buhari, previously headed the office.
The agency in which some of its programmes are funded by international donors such as the World Bank would be monitored and supervised under the new ministry of humanitarian affairs.
“Mrs. Yakubu holds a Master’s degree in agronomy from the State University of Bio-Technology in Kharkiv, Ukraine, and has over 15 years of experience managing Social Investment Programmes.
“President Tinubu wants the new appointee to provide the greatest level of efficiency, openness, and quality service delivery to NSIPA as part of his administration’s Renewed Hope strategy.
