Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake, has partnered with his counterpart, Mohammed Idris of Information and National Orientation, in advancing the Bola Tinubu administration’s objectives to elevate Nigeria’s mining sector.
During Minister Idris’s visit to Dr Alake’s office today, the former praised the latter’s strategic role in conceptualizing media and communication strategies that contributed significantly to the government’s emergence.
Dr Alake commended Minister Idris’s leadership in steering the government’s information dissemination machinery, expressing confidence in his ability to achieve set government objectives.
“We have come a long way, and I am very happy that he is the one piloting the information apparatchik of this government. I personally have full confidence in his ability and capacity to achieve the stated objectives of the government.
“So, it is an honour for me today to welcome him to this critical metals’ ministry – an epithet he gave to the ministry”, Alake said.
Minister Idris acknowledged Dr Alake’s profound impact on the mining sector in response, emphasizing the enhanced global visibility brought to solid minerals since Alake assumed office.
He commended Alake’s unwavering determination and foresight in placing solid minerals at the forefront of national discourse, positioning the sector for enviable progress.
“I have come to respect Alake’s intellect, focus, determination, and dexterity. He is willing to pitch for things that appear even impossible, and you can see that in the way he has handled the ministry of solid minerals.
“This ministry has been there. It is not a new ministry. It is one of the oldest ministries around, but not many people know about it.
“Since he came here, he has managed to put solid minerals on the front burner to the extent that people are becoming extremely envious of this ministry because of the work he has done.
“It is not a mistake that the President brought him here. He knows he can turn things around”, Idris affirmed.
Both ministers underscored their commitment to collaborating closely to project ongoing reforms and raise awareness about the critical importance of the mining sector in diversifying Nigeria’s economy.
They reiterated their alignment with President Tinubu’s vision, aiming to transform the mining sector into a significant contributor to Nigeria’s GDP.
Dr Alake reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to establishing a legacy of effective governance, highlighting Minister Idris’s pivotal role in elevating the mining sector’s visibility.
He expressed gratitude for Minister Idris’s collaboration, emphasizing their joint effort to position solid minerals as Nigeria’s next economic powerhouse, akin to the petroleum sector.
