Deputy Secretary Kurt M. Campbell is set to embark on a diplomatic trip to Abuja, Nigeria on April 29th, 2024. The visit aims to strengthen partnerships and address critical global issues.
In Abuja, Deputy Secretary Campbell will co-chair the sixth U.S.-Nigeria Binational Commission (BNC) with Foreign Minister Yusuf Tuggar.
The discussions will focus on partnerships, security cooperation, shared prosperity, democracy, governance, accountability, and the movement of people.
Additionally, he will hold meetings with senior Nigerian government officials, business leaders, and civil society representatives.
Moving to London, Deputy Secretary Campbell will engage in bilateral meetings concerning the Indo-Pacific region and the AUKUS trilateral security partnership.
Discussions will also cover ongoing support for Ukraine, efforts to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza, and addressing the humanitarian crisis. Meetings with U.K. counterparts are scheduled to explore strategies for peace and stability in these areas.
Finally, in Paris, Deputy Secretary Campbell will attend the OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM) under the theme of “Co-creating the Flow of Change: Leading Global Discussions with Objective and Reliable Approaches Toward Sustainable and Inclusive Growth.”
He will participate in discussions on various topics, including support for Ukraine, the PRC’s involvement in Russia’s war against Ukraine, and an Indo-Pacific dialogue.
