Peter Obi has suggested that Nigeria should also have a retirement age for politicians just as for other professions.

The Labour Party presidential candidate made the comment while speaking in an interview on Arise Television that it is important for the country to have a certain retirement age for its politicians.

The former governor of Anambra state added that the task of governing a country such as Nigeria should not be left in the hands of old people.

Obi was asked about Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Lagos state, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, who just turned 40 about his age and experience in politics and governance.

He responded: “It is laughable. “If we can retire bishops at 70 years, professors and teachers at the age of 70, left for me, I will say it is time we put a retirement age on politics and for politicians.”
