Lai Mohammed has stated that the call by Edwin Clark for his arrest and prosecution for admonishing Peter Obi over inciting the public to violence is unjustifiable.

The minister of information and culture was reacting to the call made by the Leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) that he should be arrested and prosecuted for spreading “fake news” about Obi.

Alhaji Mohammed said he is standing by his word, insisting that his advice was never premised on falsehood.

The minister said: “Is it for chiding him for saying that swearing-in Tinubu in May 29 is like swearing-in the military?

“What is the fake news in that?”
Edwin Clark had earlier called for the arrest of the minister after accusing him of misinterpreting Obi and his running mate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed’s comments about handing over of power on May 29, 2023.
