With no schoolmates alive, Tinubu now shops for “other mates” – Public commentator berates Nigerian president
Public affairs commentator Mahdi Shehu has criticised President Bola Tinubu for the calibre of people visiting him since he assumed office.
Shehu, who describes himself as a non-commercial whistle-blower, stated that the president has been receiving the wrong crowd.
However, he accused the president of being like minds with questionable characters visiting him.
Shehu was reacting to the recent visit by the 99′ class governors who visited Tinub at the Presidential Villa.
State chief executives who were in office from 1999 to 2007, in a solidarity visit to Tinubu, declared their support for the president.
Tinubu, 71, now president, was one of the governors at the time.
Shehu wrote:
”The preponderance of those who visited tinubu in Abuja, Lagos, and France are those with various grades of criminal cases of theft, fraud, misappropriation of public funds or economic sabotage.
”They feel at home doing that because it is indeed homely.
”Class of 1999: With no schoolmates alive, one will have to shop for “other mates.”
”Because all his schoolmates remain unknown like the unknown gunmen, invisible like the spirits in the evil forest, and imaginary like virgin harlots.
”He belongs to the class of the unknown. Pity.”
After listing some of tinubu’s fellow governors in the class of 99, especially those who were docked for alleged corruption, Shehu wrote:
”Show who your friends are and the company you keep, and you will be told who you are.”
