The All Progressive Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate Adegboyega Oyetola has expressed happiness over his victory at the Osun state governorship election petition tribunal.
The former governor who was unseated by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate Ademola Adeleke in the July 16, 2022, election, had been in court seeking justice for election malpractice against his opponent.
And the judgment was in his favour as Chairman of the Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Oshogbo said that Oyetola scored the majority lawful votes of 314,931 against Adeleke’s 219,666.
Oyetola told journalists after the tribunal’s ruling, the former governor said it is a collective victory for the APC, the people of Osun state and democracy.
Oyetola said: “I am very happy and I thank the members of the press for your support throughout the period of the election tribunal.”
On the other hand, Adeleke has vowed to contest the judgement made by the tribunal calling it a miscarriage of justice.
The incumbent governor also said that he will challenge the tribunal’s ruling in the Court of Appeal.
