Super Eagles and Atalanta FC striker has explained why the English Premier League (EPL) is more suitable to his playing style than plying his trade in the Italian Serie A.
Lookman, who made his senior debut in 2015 while playing forward for the English Championship’s Charlton Athletic, stated that the EPL’s faster, more technical, and more muscular style fits his game better than Serie A in Italy.
The silky winger disclosed in an interview with The Athletic ahead of Atalanta’s EUROPA league second-leg quarter-final clash against Liverpool on Thursday.

Lookman, who played for England at the under-19 and under-21 levels before making his senior national team debut for Nigeria in 2022 following an international transfer, said that he finds learning about Italian football culture to be quite interesting.
“The Premier League is definitely suited to my style because it’s fast, technical, and physical — and it’s the country I grew up in,” Lookman told The Athletic.
“But learning about the culture of football in Italy is really special. The build-up to the games, the atmosphere in the stadium, and the love that the fans have for football. It’s very special.”
Born on October 20, 1997, in Wandsworth, Greater London, to Nigerian parents, Lookman joined Serie A club Atalanta on a four-year contract for a reported fee of €15 million on August 4, 2022.
