Atiku Abubakar has accused some governors of the All Progressives Congress (APC) of preparing the ground for anarchy following their utterances over the naira redesign policy of the Central Bank.
Some APC had refused to comply with the CBN’s directive that the old N1,000 and N500 notes have become invalid and threatened to shut down any business who did not accept the legal tender in their respective states.
However, spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Phrank Shaibu has said that the comments made by the governors have caused the recent attacks on banks.

Shaibu pointed accusing hands at Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state, stressing that he acted like a dictator and has caused the burning of two banks recently by rioters.
He further added that officials of the APC have been distributing the old naira as seen in viral videos.
He said: “In viral videos all over social media, agents of Governor Abiodun could be seen sharing the old notes in envelopes branded with the governor’s picture, convincing the supporters that the letters remain legal tenders contrary to the CBN policy.
Shaibu lashed out at Nasir el-Rufai and Abdullahi Ganduje of Kaduna and Kano states, accusing them of provoking civil disobedience in their states.
He added: ”The APC and their governors do not love the masses. Their only grouse is their inability to buy votes because of this policy. These unscrupulous politicians must not deceive Nigerians.”
