Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has declared that he is eager to return to football action after being sidelined with an injury that has kept him out of the game since January.
Recall that Leverkusen celebrated the return of their top scorer to full fitness, as the Nigerian international was pictured in training with his teammates on Monday.
“And @boniface_jrn is working hard on the comeback! We like the look!” the club wrote on their X account.
Boniface, who has scored 16 goals in 23 appearances in all competitions this season, is also glad to return to training after recovering from the groin injury that made him miss the 2023 AFCON.
In an interview with Sport Bild, Victor Boniface lauded his teammates for their impressive performances in his absence and also revealed that he’s fit and ready to help the team in their quest to win the Bundesliga title this season.
“The team did very well without me. When I came to Leverkusen, I said that I don’t look at rankings or individual scores,” Boniface was quoted by Sport Bild.
“Of course goals and assists are important, but the most important thing for me is to be able to help the team with my style of play and simply have fun. I really miss being on the pitch with my teammates and hope to be back soon.” He noted.
