The chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission Abike Dabiri-Erewa has stated that it was impossible for any flight to land in Sudan during the current period of war.
The statement is not palatable news for Nigerian students living in Sudan as their hopes of leaving the country which is currently at war have been dashed.
The National Emergency Management had made plans to evacuate up to 1,700 students from Sudan but it was impossible for flights to land because of the war.

There is unrest ongoing between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Special Forces in Sudan which has crippled flights going in and out of the country.
Spokesperson of NIDCOM Gabriel Odu said that some aircraft parked at the airport in Sudan were burnt and access into the nation will be risky.
NIDCOM’s statement reads: “Dabiri-Erewa noted that humanitarian groups are seeking ways of getting food, water medical supplies across to people.
“She, therefore, appealed to the fighting parties to consider the Juba Peace Agreement enunciated by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development as a fundamental mechanism for the restoration of peace and tranquillity in the country.”
