With just a few weeks to the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight years in office, he has tendered an apology to Nigerians over his actions.
The president gave this appeal at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday, April 21, during his final Sallah homage.
The 15th President of Nigeria expressed gratitude to Nigerians for exercising tolerance for him during his administration.

In his words: “I think this is a very good coincidence for me to say goodbye to you and to thank you for tolerating me…I consider myself lucky to have been a Governor, Minister Head of State and now President for two terms.”
President Buhari also revealed how eager he was to hand over the helm of affairs to his successor and return to his home in Daura, Katsina state.
He added: “I can’t wait to go home…I deliberately arranged to be as far away as possible from you people. I have got what I have asked and will quietly retire to my home town in Daura.”
Meanwhile, the spokesperson to the president on media and publicity Femi Adesina disclosed that that sickness took eight months of Buhari’s eight-year tenure.
Adesina added that President Buhari had health challenges that made him fly out to the United Kingdom for treatment on several occasions.
He said: “When he fell sick in January 2017, he came back in March, went again in April and didn’t come back till August 19.
“About all, eight months. That sickness took eight months of his time in the office. Of course, nobody would like that but what we are glad about is that he came whole, sound and better than he went.”
