Muhammad Ali Pate, Nigeria’s health minister, has shared insights into the Nigerian government’s national health sector renewal initiative.
According to the minister, the initiative’s objective, guided by the leadership of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), is to collaborate with states in revitalizing Nigeria’s primary healthcare system.
He said the aim is to provide all Nigerians with people-centred, high-quality, affordable, and equitable healthcare services.
The minister said building trust within communities and aligning available resources are essential to transforming the landscape and reality of healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
He made the comments during a recent meeting held with members of the Nigeria Health Commissioners’ Forum focused on program coordination, alignment, funding, and the allocation of human health resources to effectively implement the new sector-wide Strategic Blueprint for the health sector covering the years 2023 to 2026.
The health commissioners expressed their confidence in the framework proposed for the initiative.
Pate pledged to lead in orchestrating a harmonious Universal Health Coverage symphony that will positively impact the health and well-being of the Nigerian population.
He assured that the Nigerian government will create a more inclusive, efficient, and high-quality healthcare system for all citizens.
