The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has emerged as the top-performing agency in the 2023 efficiency and transparency compliance ranking published by the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC).
PEBEC’s report highlights the performance of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) regarding efficiency and transparency, emphasizing the need for significant improvement in crucial Business Facilitation Acts (BFA) Compliance metrics.
Among the high-performing MDAs, NCDMB secured the top spot with a score of 70.07%, followed closely by Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), and Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM).
However, the report also reveals that only 10 out of 39 MDAs scored above 50%, indicating a need for strategic measures to enhance sector-specific BFA metrics.
PEBEC recommends that MDAs establish BFA Implementation Reform Committees to drive initiatives to promote transparency and accountability, which is in line with the Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR’s economic reform agenda.
Jumoke Oduwole, the Special Adviser to the President on PEBEC and Investment, explained that the efficiency report assesses compliance with service delivery timelines, while transparency is evaluated based on various factors such as website updates, online service portals, detailed service information, timelines, costs, statutory requirements, and customer service contact details.
PEBEC, established by the Federal Government in July 2016, aims to remove bureaucratic and legislative constraints to doing business and enhance the perception of the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
The organization’s efforts foster a conducive business environment and drive economic growth across all sectors.
