Nigerian singer Tems wins Grammy award

Nigerian singer, Tems, recorded a feat in her career when she won her first Grammy award in the 2023 ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category.

Tems won the award for her vocal and writing contribution to the smashing hit ‘Wait For U’ by Future featuring Drake and herself.

This award made it the first Grammy win for Tems after four nominations.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy’s hopes of adding another Grammy plaque to his award cabinet were dashed after he lost his two nominations. 

He lost the Best Global Song performance for which ‘Last Last’ was nominated and Best Global Album for which ‘Love, Damini’ was nominated.

In another news, Tems has celebrated her Golden Globe nomination for the Marvel movie Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack.

The singer co-wrote the song titled ‘Lift Me Up,’ which was performed by Rihanna and released on November 4.

She was nominated for the Best Original Score award category alongside Rihanna and other songwriters – Ludwig Göransson and Ryan Coogler.

Reacting to the news, the singer described the nomination as too much.
