The Nigerian Labour Union has reacted to the non-payment of ₦35,000 by the Federal Government.
The Federal civil servants have complained that they have not been paid for November. This was confirmed by some workers of the Federal Civil Service, one of the workers lamented that before the issue no official statement had been released about the failure to pay their salaries.
Newsng recalls that the Wages Award was introduced by FG following complete removal of fuel subsidies in an attempt to cushion the hardship faced by the masses.
The National Salaries Wages and Income Commission chairman Mr Ekpo Nta said the payments will begin by September, the civil workers have confirmed that the wages award was paid only for a month.
In an interaction with a top civil servant worker, he complained that the wages awarded for this month are unpaid and that it has caused confusion among workers as there have been no updates about the issue.
Further reactions by the workers expressed dissatisfaction as the wages paid are insufficient for them, a different comment from a Federal Government school worker warned that “the Government should stop playing with their emotions.”
The Nigerian Labor Council NLC has called on the Federal Government stating that their actions are not acceptable and should be discontinued.
The NLC assured the workers to exercise patience while working hard so that the government release their payments.
On enquiry, if the NLC takes action against it, they would certainly do something about the non–payment of salaries and it plans to do it according to the congress principles, ”after communication with the government we will.
