Tiwa Savage, a Nigerian Afrobeats singer, cancelled her Wembley Arena concert due to an “unknown illness”. The singer was scheduled to perform at the show on November 26, making her the first female African artiste to perform at the arena, which seats 13,000 people.
On Tuesday, the singer posted on her Instagram account that the concert had been postponed as a result of her illness. She explained that she had been battling with a “virus” and would be on a “vocal rest” for some time.
“Dear Savage Soldiers,” she wrote, “I have been dealing with a virus for several weeks and have been advised to take vocal rest for some months.
She said she was “devastated and heartbroken” but she is required to have some rest to “save what’s left” of her vocals. She also expressed that she needed to postpone all her upcoming performances, with her first-ever main stage concert to be held in London inclusively.
“I am very sorry, I love y’all, and I am sure to be back soon. When I am fully healthy,” she wrote.
