Popular celebrity doctor and influencer, Dr Olufunmilayo Ogunsanya, has reportedly been cleared of all rape charges by a UK Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service panel.
This was disclosed in a series of tweets by right activist Inibehe Effiong on Wednesday.
Mr Ogunsanya, who was accused of rape by his ex-girlfriend, Bolanle Aseyan, for allegedly breaking their relationship, was charged before the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom.
Ms Bolanle, also a medical doctor, was said to have submitted complaints against Mr Ogunsanaya with the General Medical Council (GMC) in 2020 in the expectation that he would lose his practice licence.
Mr Ogunsanaya, who has since taken a vacation from social media following his trial before the UK medical panel, was vindicated on Wednesday by the panel, which revealed its verdict and decided that all of the claims levelled against him had not been proven.
According to the details of the Tribunal, Mr Ogunsanaya’s ability to practise law has not been compromised.
The development follows a similar outcome for former Manchester City player and World Cup winner Benjamin Mendy, who was exonerated of claims of six counts of rape and one count of sexual assault involving four young ladies or teenagers after a six-month trial.
