English Premier League (EPL) side West Ham has reignited their interest in signing Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi to avoid Financial Fair Play (FFP) sanctions.
This was revealed in a report by UK publication Football365.com, which stated that Nottingham Forest are open to selling a host of their star players as they seek to avoid another breach of strict Premier League financial rules.
This comes after Forests was penalized with the deduction of four points from their haul on Tuesday for violating the Profitability and Sustainability Rules of the Premier League.
The Premier League claims that club executives have acknowledged exceeding their allowed budget of £61 million by £34.5 million in violation of the Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
If Forest doesn’t offload one of their best players in the summer to clear their books, they run the risk of repeating the same mistake next season, and Awoniyi has been mentioned as one of the players they are willing to sell to balance their books.
The 26-year-old Nigerian striker, who has scored twice against West Ham this season, piqued their attention last summer and they are expected to make another approach for the former Liverpool star in the summer to solve their striking problems.
