Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state says the only way the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) can end the lingering internal crisis is to ensure equity, fairness and justice.
The governor disclosed this at the commissioning ceremony of the Nkpolu-Oroworokwo flyover in Port-Harcourt on Thursday, November 17.
The governor noted that the right thing must be done to ensure true reconciliation within the opposition party.
“Because I said let the right thing be done, let agreement be agreement, I have now become an enemy. These were people who were praising me morning, night, any day,” Wike said.
“But because we said, look, we had an agreement, do this, do that, and some people believe that they will not and we said it must be done. We stand for equity, fairness and justice. That is what the G-5 Governors will continue to preach. We have said we are not against reconciliation, but reconciliation must be based on equity, fairness and justice.”
The governor promised to provide logistical support for Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party, in the 2023 elections.
Wike hailed Obi for his courage to dump the PDP adding that he would stay and chase the “armed robbers” in the party.
