Former Governor of Enugu state Chimaroke Nnamani has told Peter Obi to withdraw his petition against president-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and work towards building a new Nigeria.
Senator Nnamani made the call in Abuja on Sunday, April 23, 2023, that the Labour Party (LP) and his supporters should accept Tinubu’s victory in the recently held general elections.
He stated that Obi did not have national appeal and support to win the past presidential election adding that his petition against Tinubu’s victory was out of “bad belle, petulance and demarketing.”

Nnamani said: “His Petition is dead on arrival. He does not have the spread or national appeal. His appeal to non electoral matters is to demarket the President elect and besmirch his reputation.”
He also advised Obi to allow “sedate minds” to negotiate on behalf of the Igbo and Southeast for their fair share of the national treasure.
The senator emphasized that the Igbo’s risked being left behind in the history of a new Nigeria but suggested the importance of Southeast people joining the mainstream and participating in mainstream politics.
Meanwhile, Peter Obi has dismissed the allegation levelled against him by Senator Chimaroke Nnamani that his campaign is laced with ethnoreligious incitement.
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, said contrary to Senator Nnamani’s allegations, he is the direct opposite of what the former Enugu state governor perceived him to be.
Obi said on The Cable: “I find it very shocking that you had to label me as an ethnic and religious bigot and as one who indulges in a campaign of hatred. In this instance, I like to state unequivocally that I am the direct opposite of what you said in your statement and what my campaigns have been.”
