Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike has fired back at the national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu, over his recent comment.
Speaking with BBC Hausa, Ayu described those seeking his resignation as children.
The PDP chairman maintained that he would only vacate the position after the expiration of his four-year tenure.
Speaking at the commissioning of some roads in Ikwerre Local Government, Wike described Ayu as an ungrateful man.
The governor recalled how Ayu was impeached as Senate President under the administration of former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
“Ayu, you were impeached as senate president. Ayu, you were sacked by Obasanjo in his administration,” Wike said.
“These children — these people you call boys — brought you from nothing,” the governor said.
Wike advised Ayu to focus on ensuring peace within the party even as they prepare for the forthcoming elections.
