British longest serving monarch, Queen Elizabeth of England, is dead.
The Queen died in the afternoon of Thursday, September 8, 2022.
According to a tweet by the British Royal Family, she died peacefully in Balmoral.
The tweet reads: “The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon. The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.”
According to media reports, her four children were by her side before she passed.
The Queen, who clocked 96, will be given a state funeral – a process that would go on for the next twelve days.
During this period, all comedy shows would be scrapped with the country’s flag flown at half-mast.
According to British tradition, the crown passes to Britain’s Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales.
The 73-year-old Prince would be addressed as King Charles III.
