'An insult to Kano' -  Northern APC members criticise Tinubu for nominating Maryam Shetty as minister, say she is a blogger

Maryam Shetty, one of the ministerial nominees from Kano, has caused a commotion on social media, with many All Progressives Congress (APC) from the state rejecting her nomination.

Ms Shettima, a political and social activist and a qualified physiotherapist, is known for her strong social media presence.

She started her early education in Kano and went to the School of Physiotherapy at Bayero University Kano, where she finished her BSc with distinction.

She obtained her Masters’s Degree from East London University, where she majored in Sports Physiotherapy.

But, APC chieftains in the northwest state say Shetty is more of a content creator and blogger and does not deserve to be a minister.

Idris Abdul Ahmed, a professional nurse, says President Bola Tinubu is a joker for nominating Shetty.

He queried:

”Why is Maryam Shetty nominated? This man is really a joker. He was busy giving people posts who were absent in the whole APC ish. What are the two nominees from Kano known for?”

Mallam Abba Kurfi wrote:

Don’t waste your time trying to make a vast CV for yourself. Just work hard and pray. Maryam Shetty is an example for you.

Another northern wrote:

”The lady literally has zero noteworthy professional experience yet have to make decisions for 200 million plus Nigerians.”

Engr. Sarki Ameer wrote:

”What if Maryam Shetty is a placeholder? I’m still struggling to understand the motive behind her selection from Kano state, to be honest.”

Aminu Lawal wrote:

”Maryam Shetty, minister nominee from Kano state. The power of connections.”

Despite the negative comments, others praised the president for nominating Shetty, stating she deserves it.
