The national youth leader of the ruling All Progressive Party (APC), Dayo Israel has asked President Bola Tinubu that 15 per cent of federal government boards and parastatals be allocated to eligible APC youths.
Mr Israel made this known on Thursday in a tweet after his visit to the President at the Villa in Abuja.
“Speaking with the President of Nigeria and my Father @officialABAT earlier today at the Villa advocating for youth inclusion in the administration. I requested for 15% of slots in board and parastatal to go to our qualified youths in the APC who worked for the party in the election,” Mr Israel said.
Mr Israel’s request comes barely hours after President Tinubu released the first batch of 28 ministerial nominees.
Meanwhile, the APC leader also stated that he requested the establishment of the Presidential Youth Advisory Council, (YAC)
He explained that the YAC would consist of two seats for youth, one male and one female that would sit on that committee and ensure that the youths’ interests are protected during the selection process.
He stated that he believes President Tinubu will keep his promises to Nigerians.
“Not just youth but the youths of our party. We have competent young people with experience in the APC.
“We also requested for the constitution of the Presidential Youth Advisory Council. We are confident in the Presidents capacity to fulfil his pledges to Nigerians
“Mr President, a committee was set up to look into nominations for Board and Parastatal by the State. We know that most of the state did not nominate any young person. The only way we can protect the interest of the young people is to have a sit at the table.
“I would like to request for two slots for the youth, a male and a female to sit on that committee and ensure that the interest of the youths are protected in the selection” – Mr Israel said to President Tinubu.
