The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the date and venue for the Super Falcons 2024 Olympic qualifying match against the Bayana Bayana of South Africa.
The first leg of their final qualifying match for the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament will be played on Friday, April 5 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
The top-ranked squad in Africa and the defending champions will trade tackles in the return leg, which is set for Tuesday, April 9 in South Africa, at a location yet to be determined.
With a 1-0 aggregate victory over Cameroon, Randy Waldrum’s team earned a spot in the next round of the qualification tournament, while South Africa advanced by defeating Tanzania.
Ghada Mehat, an Algerian referee, will oversee the game, while her compatriots Asma Feriel Ouahab and Lamia Atman, will act as assistant referees 1 and 4, respectively, and Mariem Cheddad, a Mauritanian, as assistant referee 2.
The winner of the two-leg match between South Africa and Nigeria in early April will play among 15 other senior women’s teams from across the world in the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament, which gets underway in Paris, France, on July 16.
