Portuguese coach Antonio Conceicao tops the list of 40 coaches who have thrown their hats in the ring to become the new coach of the Super Eagles, vacated by Jose Peseiro.
This was made known by an official of the Nigeria Football Federation, who revealed that the Super Eagles’ job remains attractive despite the many challenges that come with it.
“It’s unprecedented that as many as 40 foreign coaches have formally applied to lead the Super Eagles. This means that the job remains very attractive despite the many challenges that come with it.” A top official of the NFF said.
Portuguese coach Antonio Conceicao, who led host Cameroon to third place at the 2021 AFCON, is believed to be one of the coaches who has sent his CV to the NFF for consideration.
Other coaches, including Sunday Oliseh, Finidi George, Daniel Amokachi, and Emmanuel Amuneke, are reportedly among those who have applied for the position.
However, a source has revealed that the NFF will stop at nothing to ensure that they get it by hiring a coach who will take the Super Eagles to the highest level.
“NFF wants the best for Nigerian football and will go all out to ensure that they get it by hiring only the person who will take the Super Eagles to the highest level. The World Cup qualifiers will be coming in another three months, and we cannot afford to make a mistake in our choice of coach at this point,” an impeccable source said.
