The Flying Eagles of Nigeria, led by Ladan Bosso, have crashed out of the football event of the ongoing All African Games taking place in Accra, the capital of Ghana.
The U-20 team of Nigeria, which needed at least a draw to qualify for the semifinals of the games, lost their last Group B match to West African rivals Senegal 3-2.
Recall that the team narrowly lost their first match 1-2 to Uganda but redeemed itself with a win against South Sudan, and they were condemned to secure a win or draw against Senegal to qualify for the next round of the male football event.
The Flying Eagles failed to secure a win or draw against Senegal despite the earlier charge by the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, urging the team to ensure that they secure victory against their West African rivals.
After the game, Bosso expressed his disappointment with the outcome and laid the blame on his lacklustre performance preparation before the start of the competition.
“I’m disappointed because this game was the best we have played so far in this tournament.
“I didn’t have enough time to scout for players, and what I did was watch a few games in Uyo and other places. That’s where I saw the two Enyimba players, Daga and Chibueze,” Bosso said.
