The Department of State Security (DSS) Tuesday described a lawyer, Maxwell Okpara as a charge and bail lawyer and an IPOB apologist for allegedly criticizing the Director-General DG of the service, Yusuf Bichi.
The Service who said this in a series of tweets via its official Twitter handle, @officialDSSNG also called on Nigerians to be wary of the lawyer.
Charge and bail is a slur word used for unqualified lawyers.
The DSS also described Mr Okpara as an overzealous uninformed lawyer.
“Charge and bail, overzealous uninformed IPOB/ESN lawyer Maxwell Okpara mobilises other like-minded lawyers against DGSS. Futile Efforts. Well, Nigerians, beware! This is in bad faith. Transferred aggression, the tweet partly read.
The NewsNG Cannot immediately confirm the reason for the DSS reaction, but further described him as a lawyer defending the suspended Central Bank Governor, (CBN).
The service also called on the lawyer to properly educate himself “on points of law,”
“A Biafran Republic agitator and Outlawed IPOB counsel defending the suspended CBN Governor. Is IPOB defending one of theirs???? What a contradiction…..hmmm…what’s the connection? Is someone telling us something? May Maxwell be properly educated on points of law, please.
Last month President Tinubu suspended Mr Emefile on allegations of corruption and terrorism financing. He was subsequently taken into custody by Nigeria’s secret police, where he is being investigated.
On 13 July, the court ordered the DG of the service of SSS, Yusuf Bichi, to release Mr Emefile or charge him to court.
Reacting to the ruling, the DSS issued a statement last week announcing it has charged the suspended CBN governor to court.
