Users in the United States have a limited amount of time left to switch from Google Podcasts before the service is permanently discontinued worldwide by the firm.
Users in the United States are presently receiving in-app messages from Google advising them to export their subscriptions to YouTube Music as they will no longer be able to utilise Google Podcasts as of April 2.
For more than five years, the Google Podcasts app—which has been downloaded over 500 million times on Android devices worldwide—offers a straightforward and efficient interface for finding, subscribing to, and enjoying podcasts, along with the ability to add podcasts via RSS feed.
Regretfully, for those who enjoy using the app, the internet giant said in September of last year that, as part of a larger strategy to consolidate its audio services under YouTube, it would start to phase down the Podcasts app in early 2024.
News.ng understands that while Google Podcasts users find YouTube Music’s basic podcast listening capability to be overly bloated, the app’s discovery and management functions are missing, and podcast-specific search and sorting filters are absent.
Up until July 2024 in the US, Google will let you import your Google Podcasts library into YouTube Music.
The duration of the transfer may vary based on the quantity of podcasts you have subscribed to. Podcasts that are not transferred to YouTube Music are not available there.
For those, you receive a “Content is unavailable” error. By using their RSS feed link, you can manually add these podcasts to YouTube Music.
