Nyesom Wike, the immediate past governor of Rivers state, is under fire from members of his party – Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Hours after his name appeared on the ministerial nominees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, PDP members descended on the former governor, calling him names.
Wike, a PDP chieftain, has been one of the harshest critics of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the last eight years.
His nomination by President Tinubu took to social media to criticize the former Rivers governor.
Emma Umeh said Wike is an embarrasment:
”I have never seen anyone that lacks shame and decency like former Governor Wike.”
Demola Olarewaju called for his expulsion from the party:
”Since Nyesom Wike lacks the decency to now officially resign his membership of the PDP, the party should immediately activate all internal mechanisms to expel him or risk external ridicule and internal sabotage henceforth. The NWC should call an NEC meeting and expel Nyesom Wike.”
Abdul-Aziz Na’ibi Abubakar wrote:
”Nyesom Wike, Hon. Minister of Hypocrisy and Sycophancy.”
Babasola Kuti says Wike’s doom is near:
”Wike is such a shameless man sha…but Tinubu will disgrace him finally. Just wait and see.”
Sodiq Tade called for the party to deal decisively with Wike:
”Wike getting appointed by Tinubu as a minister while still claiming to be a PDP member is insulting to the collective intelligence of the genuine party leaders who worked very hard for the party in the last general election.”
