On Tuesday night, the Lagos state police said they had taken the controversial singer Azeez Adeshina Fashola popularly known as ”nairamarley” into custody for questioning and further investigation into the death of Mohbad, a former record label client of his.
According to the statement from the state police’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hurayin, Fashola “has been remanded into custody for further questioning and further investigation.”
According to reports, Mohbad died on September 12th at 27 years of age.
In a tweet posted on Tuesday evening, Marley said he had returned to Lagos to help with the investigation and expressed his hope that the truth would be revealed and justice would be served.
Last week, the police said the autopsy on Mohbad had been completed by pathologists and the police are awaiting the results. A police spokesman told our correspondent in an exclusive interview that the autopsy had been completed and the police are waiting for the results.
Mohbad’s body was exhumed by a team of Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and health personnel in the previous week. The police officers also arrested a nurse who was accused of giving Mohbad an injection before he died on Tuesday, 12th September.
A coroner’s investigation into the singer’s death was filed at Lagos’ State Magistrate’s Court in Iwo on Friday.
