The Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite, has reiterated the commitment of President Bola Tinubu’s administration to enhancing businesses in Nigeria.
She made this known in a meeting with the chargé d’affaires of the U.S. Embassy, David Greene, and his team in Abuja.
Ms Uzoka-Anite emphasized the administration’s focus on preserving and protecting democracy and supporting growth, industrialization, and economic development through trade and investment.
She highlighted the government’s efforts to stimulate various sectors of the economy and achieve its mission.
The minister outlined support areas, including trade facilitation, standard trade development facilities, technical and financial assistance for digital trade, trade intelligence units, development of the cotton industry, and capacity building for the Nigeria Customs Service.
She emphasized the necessity for transforming the country and expressed the government’s determination to catalyze economic growth across diverse sectors.
In response, Mr Greene expressed the U.S. government’s eagerness to collaborate on private sector development and outlined the various agencies and services available to facilitate trade, investment, and commercial activities between the two nations.
He underscored the importance of working together to explore opportunities for trade and investment, emphasizing the U.S.’s readiness to engage in collaborative efforts to foster economic growth and development in Nigeria.
Recall that Uzoka-Anite recently pledged that the government will establish new industrial clusters and revitalize existing ones to facilitate the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and industries nationwide.
She commented on an interaction with government officials and business community members in Kano State.
According to her, the industrial clusters would offer access to subsidized inputs, power, access roads, and other essential infrastructure to enhance the productivity and profitability of industries and SMEs.
