President Buhari suspends Adamawa REC, orders for immediate prosecution

The long arm of the law is now catching up with the Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa-Ari after President Muhammadu Buhari has approved his suspension.

Yunusa-Ari wrongfully declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Aisha Binanii during the recently held Adamawa gubernatorial election.

Buhari’s order was made in a statement by the director of information in the office of the secretary to the government of the federation, Willie Bassey, on Thursday, April 20, 2023.

Mr President who has kept mute on the Adamawa crisis also directed the investigation and prosecution of Ari by the Inspector General of Police, if found accountable. 

Yunusa-Ari will remain suspended until the police complete the investigation on his “conduct and actions” during the supplementary governorship election in Adamawa.
