Former Juventus striker Fabrizio Ravanelli is sceptical about Napoli’s ability to go toe-to-toe with the top teams in Serie A when Victor Osimhen eventually leaves the Parthenopeans next season.
Ravanelli, speaking ahead of Osimhen’s likely departure from Napoli next season, said it will not be easy for the club to replace him when he leaves.
According to the retired footballer, who has 22 caps for the Italian national team, Napoli will struggle to find a ready replacement for Osimhen when he leaves in the coming months.
“Osimhen is among the best strikers in the world. He has incredible ferocity and is not afraid of anything. It will not be easy for Napoli to replace him,” Ravanelli said, according to Napoli Magazine.
Osimhen, who has scored no fewer than 13 goals in all competitions this season for Napoli, is valued at around $130 million by his modest Italian club.
Reports say Paris Saint-Germain is in the running and better positioned to pay Osimhen’s massive $130 million release clause. Arsenal FC is also reportedly trailing London rivals Chelsea in its bid to sign the prolific Nigerian international.
Osimhen is the 2022–23 Serie A top scorer for Napoli, who bagged 26 goals en route to winning the Scudetto last season but is most likely set to depart the team at the end of the current campaign.
