The pair of Victor Osimhen of Napoli FC and Tyronne Ebuehi of Empoli FC (both in Italy) have been ruled out of the Super Eagles friendly games against Ghana and Mali with both encounters set to be played in Marrakech, Morocco later this month.
Osimhen did not take part in Napoli’s Serie A game against Inter Milan on Sunday with his club’s caretaker coach Francesco Calzona revealing after the match that the striker was left out of the game due to an inflammation of the scar from an old injury.
According to Calzona, Osimhen barely trained in the days before the game and further probe about his availability for the two friendly games against Ghana and Mali reveals that his name is not on the list of players Napoli released for international duty.
Ebuehi has also been ruled of the friendly games after his club confirmed in an official statement that the player will be on the sidelines for some time due to an injury he sustained in Emploli’s 1-0 home defeat to Bologna last Friday.
“Empoli Football Club announces that the instrumental tests to which the player Tyronne Ebuehi, who came off during Friday’s match against Bologna, underwent, highlighted the partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee,” reads a statement on the club’s official website.
“The footballer, after having undergone an initial specialist evaluation to establish the recovery path, began the appropriate treatments with the Azzurri healthcare staff.” The statement concluded.
