Former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje has warned the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of the dangers of a delayed appointment of a coach for the senior national team.
Sodje, who sounded the note of warning in quotes revealed by Sports 247 said that he thinks the NFF is leaving it too late in its move to appoint a new coach for the Super Eagles.
The retired player added in his chat with the news outlet that it is a couple of months going into the World Cup qualifiers, and not having a manager doesn’t look good.
“I think we’re leaving it too late. A couple of months into the World Cup qualifiers, not having a manager doesn’t look good at all because it’s not club football.

‘‘A coach doesn’t see his players as often as he would love to because it’s international football. It’s so sad that we don’t see how important preparation is to these games,” Sodje said in quotes revealed by the media outlet.
While speaking on Nigeria’s performance at the AFCON 2023 competition, the Delta State native emphasized that failure in Ivory Coast was due to a lack of technicalities.
“We played against South Africa and the only way teams can touch us at the moment is technical know-how. If we are sound technically, I don’t think anyone in Africa can touch us,” he added.
