Toluwani Akinpade, a Labour Party supporter, has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of manipulating the judiciary.
Akinpade made the allegation in response to demands by supporters of the ruling party, asking Nigerians calling for President Bola Tinubu to resign to go to court.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, had filed a case at the Supreme Court asking the apex court to disqualify Tinubu.
This is after the Chicago State University stated that the certificate Tinubu presented to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) before the 2023 elections was not from the institution.
Akinpade wrote on X: ”Do you remember during the election when results from the polling units were being posted to social media, they told you to wait for INEC because they knew INEC had a different result?
”Now they’re telling you to wait for the Supreme Court to decide whether Tinubu truly forged his certificate because they have someone in the Supreme Court who will lie to the world that Tinubu didn’t commit forgery.”
He stated that the Supreme Court’s decision on the matter won’t reflect the truth.
According to him, certain individuals in the APC-led federal government have undue influence over the Supreme Court, potentially affecting the impartiality of its decisions.
Akinpade also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and demand accountability from the electoral commission and the judiciary.
