Wema Bank has allocated over N70 million to assist entrepreneurs and innovators through its Hackaholics 5.0 tech competition programme, which targets youth and startups.
The official opening of the Hackaholics 5.0 registration portal was announced during a press conference at Wema Bank’s head office.
Wema Bank launched the annual Hackaholics tech and innovation competition in 2019 to give young Nigerians with tech-driven ideas a platform to realise their game-changing concepts, grow their businesses or companies, and reach a larger market for these tech-enabled solutions.
Wema Bank is going all out to make this edition of Hackaholics 5.0 the greatest ever, with its launch.
The six-month-long Hackaholics 5.0 initiative, with the theme “Meta-Idea: DigiTech Solutions for Africa’s Prosperity,” will visit ten universities nationwide and challenge the youth to propose original, cutting-edge, and workable Digi-Tech solutions that will accelerate progress, development, and prosperity—not just in Nigeria but throughout the African continent.
Newsng understands that in addition to transforming thousands of lives and businesses nationwide throughout its four editions, Hackaholics has given young Nigerians a competitive advantage in the global tech and innovation landscape and assisted them in starting their startups and generating steady streams of revenue.
Reacting to the development the Divisional Head of Brands, People, and Culture, Ololade Ogungbenro, highlighted the job options in Hackaholics 5.0, and said:
“The pitch sessions across the different universities present a unique opportunity for us to double our impact to not only empower these youth to own their Startups from as early as their undergraduate years but further provide them with access to first-rate employment opportunities.”
We earlier reported that the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced a $220,000 grant and an expense-paid training programme in Silicon Valley, USA.
