The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has confirmed they will investigate the controversial resident electoral commissioner (REC) in Adamawa state Hudu Yunusa-Ari.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) sent a letter to the police to investigate the REC officer over the role he played in the just concluded supplementary governorship election in the state,
Police public relations officer CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said that the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, has constituted an investigative team that will work with INEC to take immediate action.

The IG then assured Nigerians and international bodies that the police will get to the root of the matter and fish out the perpetrators.
His statement reads in part: “The Police Authority is in receipt of a letter dated 18th April 2023 from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), detailing the alleged impropriety of the actions of one Barr. Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), during the recently concluded supplementary elections and calling on the Police to investigate and possibly prosecute the REC for his actions.”
Meanwhile, the long arm of the law is now catching up with the Adamawa Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa-Ari after President Muhammadu Buhari has approved his suspension.
Yunusa-Ari wrongfully declared the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Aisha Binanii during the recently held Adamawa gubernatorial election.
Buhari’s order was made in a statement by the director of information in the office of the secretary to the government of the federation, Willie Bassey, on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
