Prince Tom Iseghohi, a former gubernatorial aspirant under the Labour Party (LP), has secured the Action Alliance (AA) ticket in the forthcoming Edo governorship primary election.
Iseghohi’s journey to becoming the AA candidate began with his withdrawal from the LP gubernatorial primaries, citing concerns over transparency and monetization of the process.
He then defected to the Action Alliance, where he emerged victorious in the party’s substitution governorship primary election held in Benin on Saturday, securing over 90% of the votes.
His closest competitor, Chief Tony Omoba Ogie, withdrew during the primary, expressing his confidence in Iseghohi’s agenda and the party’s prospects under his candidacy.
Following his emergence, Chief Kenneth Udeze, the National Chairman of AA, commended Iseghohi for rapidly expanding the party’s influence in Edo State.
”Under Iseghohi’s leadership, AA has experienced exponential growth, attracting thousands of leaders and new members within a month,” the party chairman said.
Udeze asserted that AA is now the fourth-largest and fastest-growing party in the state, adding that the party is poised to make significant strides in the upcoming governorship election.
In his acceptance speech, Iseghohi pledged to uphold the trust placed in him by the party faithful.
He articulated a bold vision for Edo State, emphasizing peace, unity, and prosperity for all citizens.
He outlined comprehensive plans for security, economic prosperity, and political reform, promising to prioritize the safety of every citizen, promote economic growth, and empower communities through decentralized governance.
”I will transform Edo State into a beacon of progress and opportunity in honour of party members who entrusted him with their mandate.
”I will deliver policies and programs that would enhance the quality of life for all residents and propel the state towards a brighter future,” he stated.
