Faith Uche Stevens, popularly known as DJ Electra, has narrated her struggles with epilepsy.
According to her, her condition which deprived her of her dreams of becoming a lawyer is also the source of her inspiration.
She began her career as a disc jockey in 2009 at the Pub One Lounge in Lagos. Later, she moved to the Bukkahut Lounge, also in Lagos, where she worked as the regular DJ for their legendary Saturday night and still does.
Electra worked as a resident DJ at Shades Lounge in Victoria Island, where she hosted “Variety Night with DJ Electra” every Wednesday, and she has also performed at the Thailand Festival, which was organised by Orchid House Restaurant.
DJ Electra aims to officially establish her music career shortly, and she intends to use her income to support those suffering from epilepsy. Despite being unable to pursue her schooling due to the disease, she has been able to live her life which impacts lives and inspires people via her efforts.
Speaking of her condition, she revealed her first epileptic episode was recorded at the age of 18 when she was in a boarding house.
Because reading triggers her epileptic fits, she channelled her passion into music.
She currently put on protective glasses in an effort to find a way to manage her health condition.
However, everything has not been rosy for her. She recalled when she lost a deal worth 20,000 Euros.
She was booked for an all-expense paid trip to perform in a European country but when the organizers learnt about her condition, the deal was called off.
