The troops of 1 Division Nigerian Army, operating under Operation Whirl Punch, have successfully neutralized three bandits in separate clearance operations conducted in Kaduna state.

The operations took place in various locations within the state, targeting bandit hideouts and disrupting their criminal activities.

On 12 November 2023, acting on credible intelligence, the troops carried out a clearance operation around the Maro-Chibiya forest in Kajuru Local Government Area.

The encounter with the bandits resulted in the neutralization of one of them, forcing the others to flee with gunshot wounds. The troops recovered weapons, including one AK-47 rifle, one locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, four 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, and one mobile phone.

In another successful operation on 10 November 2023, troops engaged bandits during a clearance operation in Kawara and Filin Jalo villages in Igabi Local Government Area.

The fierce firefight led to the neutralization of one bandit, the recovery of an AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a motorcycle, and a Techno phone. Some bandits managed to escape with gunshot wounds during the encounter.

Additionally, troops conducted a clearance operation in Mai-Kulu-Gwanda, Rafin Gora, Funtua Badadi, and Kabawa villages in Birnin Gwari’s local government area. In this operation, one bandit was neutralized, and the troops captured one Boafeng radio and a motorcycle.

Major General Valentine Okoro, the General Officer Commanding 1 Division Nigerian Army and Force Commander of Operation Whirl Punch commended the troops for their gallantry in executing these successful operations.

He urged them to sustain the momentum until all bandits, terrorists, and criminal elements within the Division’s Area of Responsibility were completely eliminated.
